TALK: Data Science in the NOW! - It Takes an Army of Tools

How do HBase, Pig, R, Python, and all the current data science tools fit together?

We are in the data age, the era of big data We need tools to make sense of what data you already have or will have flowing through your systems. Some of these tools already exist, or you (or someone) will need to create.

Making sense of data should mean reacting to data, and it should be used as a catalyst for decision and action. This is typically difficult to do if data is only analyzed from a historical perspective. Temporal data has context and Data Science in the NOW are the methods and tools for its access.

We will explore some of the tools and techniques for exploring and making sense of data in real-time or near-real-time. Such as HBase, Cassandra and Redis. MapReduce/Hadoop, Storm and the various QL's. What not to use and what to use as well as how to use it.
